About
Mission log of a designer in the AI frontier.
Launch
Korbelious started as a pre-flight checklist item. My first Codecademy AI workshop required a domain to host a project backend, so I bought one. As the workshops and bootcamps went on, a front end began to take shape out of the vapor. The name has been drifting in my orbit since 2012. Now it finally has a mission.
The Pilot
I’ve always been a creative. My resume says Principal User Experience / Product Designer and Design Lead, which is a mouthful for a reason: I do UX on everything I touch, and lately that has mostly meant product. I work tirelessly with development and product teams to fight for usability and good design. My portfolio site featuring professional work can be found at jenniferkorbel.com.
Flight Plan
korbelious.com was 100% vibe coded. The site graphics and first-pass page mockups were created in Adobe Illustrator, and I researched the fonts and chose the color palette myself. How retro of me! Then I fed my designs to Claude, and the vibe coding began.
Crossing the Frontier
For years I trudged through days or weeks of HTML and CSS, because I believed my portfolio and hobby sites should be coded by my own hands. How better to understand what you’re building than by building it? Partnering with AI turned that slog into a moonwalk. I can now build things I used to only dream about, and it still leaves me delighted and a little amazed.
Warning Lights
But the amazement has a shadow. Alongside the wonder I feel real dread and terror about how this future unfolds. I suspect the spaceship has already lifted off, and nobody has told us the destination. So I’d rather be strapped in and learning the controls than watching from the launch pad. Understanding the tools is the one thing I can do about it, and it’s why I keep exploring.
